3-Ingredient Banana Oatmeal Morning Meal Cookies - Tidy & Tasty.

All these Banana Oatmeal Cookies are hands down the very best banana flavored cookie I've ever had. Not only are they moist and chewy for days, they're unmistakably banana-y.

Banana can be one of these flavors that may get lost when you inhale with this. It can be very subtle flavor. It always bums me out once that occurs, cause I LOVE the taste of banana. And so does the hubs.

When good flavored banana treats come together, we move a little crazy for them.

These cookies make the record of banana items to go crazy for. Without a doubt.

And they're so moistthey practically melt in your mouth. Additionally, using both banana and oats inside them, they're basically healthy, right? And perfect for breakfast!

Creating them is just as easy as eating them.

You have the usual suspects -- butter, brown sugar, white sugar, an egg, vanilla and mashed bananas. You begin with mixing all of those lovely components together.

I must warn you. The smell of that mixture -- using the banana -- is equally intoxicating. The hubs was at the kitchen which makes the dough with me (we made a deal that contained him carbonated with me) and we both had to work hard not to place our faces, or a straw, straight into it.

You then add all of the dry ingredients (which means you simply use one bowl yay!) And mix it all together!

To bake themspoon about a tablespoon of bread and make a thick disk, rather than a chunk. They spread somewhat when baking, and thus don't place them too close together. Bake them for about 10-12 minutes for a fine, moist cookiecutter. So yummy!

1 additional thing I love about this recipe is really where it came out.

My grandmother (my dad's mother ) passed out in 2008. Once I started baking a lot a few years back, my uncle gave me cookbook that he'd had didn't use. I've had it on my list to make numerous her desserts since.

My father and I made her gaufrettes (a French cookie -- my grandparents were French) a year or so ago. It was a convention for my grandma to make them each Christmas! She also gave everyone a large tin of these, which was quite a feat with 6 sons.

I now know just how much of an effort it had been! My goodness. She left them using a conventional gaufrette iron that goes over a open fire. My dad and I had them in the cooker. They cook very quickly and you need to be exact. Too little time and they kind of disintegrated to iron. Too long and they burnt to the iron and we all needed to wash it out.

My father was minding the batter and removing the cookies, I had been operating the iron, the hubs was timing things. It took many tries to get it right, but they were so great! I have tried to make them on my own and it works. I'd like to share the recipe, however, the dang irons are all so hard to find. And expensive. Sooner or later, I'd like to just make a cookie cutter with the exact same gaufrette flavor.

For now though, I'm sharing these biscuits. I don't believe I had them made them, but they're from her book.

It is such an enjoyable recipe book to check through, also. There are many handwritten pages, clippings and newspaper recipes that were taped to you can try here the publication. I adore the way they used to compose recipes in the paper -- they'd the individual who filed it is name and cute little tales. It's so fun to browse through them! What a different time on earth!

Anyways, I don't know where this recipe came from. The paper looks like it was on a flier from their square dancing group or something (they have been big into square dancing). It's definitely from West Virginia, where they lived.



In any event, I am so glad to finally talk about a recipe from her book with you! I made a couple of adjustments to make them thicker and puffier and they are delicious. There'll be more to come out of her recipe book, but for now like the banana.

Return: 34-36 COOKIES

 


INGREDIENTS:



1 cup brown sugarpacked

1/2 cup sugar

1 egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract



1 1/2 cups all purpose flour

1 1/2 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp baking soda

1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

2 tsp cornstarch



DIRECTIONS:

1. Mix together butter, brown sugar, sugar, egg, vanilla extract and mashed bananas until well blended.

3. Stir in milk.

4. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

5. Spoon tablespoons of dough onto a cookie sheet covered with parchment paper. Flatten dough a little bitinto thick disks. They'll disperse a little when baked.
